| DO NOT BUY THIS LAMP!!!!! | 2010-01-17 | 1 / 5 |

| THIS IS THE WORST LAMP!!! It also states it's in a brass finish and the one I received was black. It was also so poorly put together that instead of opting to go through the return hassle for the $10.00, I decided to place this lamp where it really needed to be....in the trash!!!! This lamp is no deal and I would not feel safe having it anywhere in my home!!! |
| Ordered this 3 years ago, about to order more! | 2009-12-29 | 5 / 5 |

| I originally ordered 2 of these lamps 3 years ago. And today they are both going strong. They started off in a bedroom as and then are now sitting in my living room the sole source of light. I have moved with them 3 times to 3 different apartments and now they are in my forever home. The shades are a bright white and diffuse the light bulbs very nicely without burning your eyes. The stalks and base are very solid and although they arent heavy, they balance out the lamp so when you hit it, it doesnt immediately fall over. I like that the switch to turn the lamps on are not that cheap plastic, but are heavy brass metal and is very solid feeling in your hand. I bought them for twelve bucks each back then and was shocked to see they are still available on even now years later. About to buy 2 more! |

| I bought one of these and had one of the metal solder points break off the socket as I was screwing the light bulb in. This apparently caused pretty good short, as it tripped the breaker for that whole room. It's not that upsetting though... it's about what I would expect for a $13 lamp. I honestly think these are decent for the price... just be careful with them: they are pretty fragile. |

These lamps are not really for anyone who is looking for quality aesthetics. As some of the bad reviews state, the following down-sides are important to note:
- The lamp bowl is cheap plastic and you should be grateful if they're symmetrical. In addition, the trim is not attached with glue or anything, so it comes off fairly easily and it doesn't quite go all the way around the bowl
- The lamp is short. If you're over 6' you'll be able to see into it without difficulty.
- The base is not quite as heavy as I would like to insure stability, but I haven't had any real problems. But if you have children or dogs, this might be an issue.
Having said that, if all you need is illumination without a serious desire for aesthetics or quality, then these seem like the lamps to get:
- It takes a 3-way bulb up to 100 watts
- It assembles fairly easily
- It seems reliable enough to do its primary job: provide light
Given the price of (currently) under $13, if illumination is all you need or care about, then I recommend the lamp. |
