| Glad I went with this one | 2010-07-14 | 4 / 5 |
| | ...OK just moved so 2 new TVs, I was back and forth on the Mits 60in or 58in Samsung plasma for the living room. I read all the reviews, looked at plasma,LCD...the answer seemed to easy,I wasn't hanging it on the wall so being 16inches deep didn't matter on my ent unit. So I saved $800 and got the Mits..small problem with a LONG wait for delivery, a 37in Panasonic LCD arrived in a few days..almost 2 weeks for the Mits. OK it showed up, turned it and SWEET...sharp HD picture...sports are almost 3D already...but if I want real 3D, it's ready..set up was pretty straight forward. I am running DirecTV HD, DVD and a VCR, yes a vcr..picture quality on the DirecTV and DVD, not Blu-Ray, excellent..VCR and non-HD channels are poor. This is strictly due to the 60in screen..flaws are a few square inches big, so a poor picture source is a VERY LARGE poor picture. The same for HD, a VERY LARGE excellent picture. The only change you may want to make is: push menu, press enter with "Picture" and then press down to "Picture Mode" press enter and change to "NATURAL"..it comes preset to "BRIGHT" or "BRILLIANT" for store display, a bit to bright for me, almost some distortion when that bright. All the other factory settings are fine to my eye, but you can adjust everything and even cancel your screw ups with 1 button push to go back to presets. The DVD and VCR setup was bone simple, if you don't get picture or sound or a color picture, check the troubleshooting guide and connections. HDMI cables are sweet, older composite connections you may need check the guide and the video cable yellow is now green, don't ask me why. The sound is pretty good,I needed to boost the bass a bit, otherwise no problem. I was thinking about a soundbar, or whenever the have a cheap decent wireless 7.1 system, but will wait as I am happy with the sound. If you want to save most of a grand and have equal or better picture to plasma, BUY IT. To cover my bases I also bought the 4yr warranty...and still saved $100's.. |
| Beware of old reviews | 2010-07-06 | 4 / 5 |
| The reason I'm writing this is to WARN everybody reading the other reviews. The Mitsubishi WD-60737 came out early to mid June 2010. There are many reviews here that were written before that date. Some, at least a year ago. Obviously these reviews should be read with a grain of salt as they must be for older models, not the one you're going to purchase.
I love this set. Not the best but what do you expect for the money? |
| Best Bang For Your Buck | 2010-06-28 | 4 / 5 |
| | This TV has a great picture and is 3D ready. DLP is a great value. They're not flat, but at only 15inches at the base, not bulky either. My wife and I easily carried this TV upstairs. I'm glad we like it because I bought it unseen, since no stores around here carry DLP. |
| Good bang for your bucks | 2010-05-20 | 4 / 5 |
| It's a very nice tv for the price. I have my computer connected up to it, and play games, dvd's and stream movies in 1080x1920 with no problem. It gives sharp images, and it's contrast is as good as the lcd monitor I have. The sound quality isn't the greatest, but I run most sound through the computer's surround speakers anyway. I think with any tv you buy these days, you need to have a good alternate sound source (shrug). I would definitely recommend this tv to a friend.
On a side note, I actually received this tv twice. The first one that arrived was severely damaged during shipping. But a call to and they had another on the way the next day. They dropped off the new and took away the broken one. While it sucks that it was broken, stuff happens and I was very pleased with 's response. |
| Fantastic picture!, Great sound!, Awful remote!!! | 2010-05-02 | 4 / 5 |
| | I purchased this item on April 1st from for $1,199.00. The picture on the Mitsubishi 60737 is AMAZING!! I really honestly feel like its right up there with some of the better LCD displays I have seen. The sound is also pretty darn good for a Big Screen TV. Usually large screen TV's have crappy sound but I really had no complaints with this one AND I already own one of those "Theater-in-a-box" Surround Sound systems. However the remote is absolutley the worst I have ever come across! The menus on the TV aren't exactly the easiet to navigate either. Other than that, you really can't beat the screen size to price ratio, and again I really must emphasize this point, the picture quality is absolutley gorgeous! HD cable programs and PS3 games (particularly Final Fantasy XIII) look absolutley stunning! I am very happy with this TV! |
